FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing blanks of quartz light guides. Proposed method comprises heating of quartz tube by means of oxygen-hydrogen burner at its compression into bar stock at temperature of 2200–2300 °C. Flame of burner with products of quartz glass evaporation is directed along billet by means of screen arranged above billet and made of quartz glass.
EFFECT: technical result is reduction of mass redox of quartz light guides and high strength of light guides.
