FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of manufacturing quartz light guide preforms. Method of manufacturing quartz light guide preforms, comprising the process of depositing a layer of pure silicon dioxide by chemical vapor deposition on the basis of highly volatile SiCl4 onto the surface of the rod-type preform. Preform is fixed coaxially inside the quartz tube, into which a mixture of oxygen and SiCl4 vapor is fed. Quartz tube is rotated and heated by an external heating source, for example a gas burner. Burner is moved in a direction opposite to the gas flow inside the tube, thereby obtaining a porous layer of quartz glass.
EFFECT: technical result consists in the increase in the strength of long-length sections of quartz light guides.
