FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to biotechnology and describes a new bacterial nuclease of the CRISPR-Cas9 system of P. pneumotropica, as well as its use to form strictly specific double-strand breaks in a DNA molecule. Said nuclease has unusual properties and can be used to change the sequence of genomic DNA in a cell of a unicellular or multicellular organism.
EFFECT: thereby increasing universality of available CRISPR-Cas9 systems, which will make it possible to use different versions of Cas9 nuclease for cutting genome or plasmid DNA in different organisms, in more specific sites and/or in different conditions.
