FIELD: biotechnology.

SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a pharmaceutical composition for inhibiting the growth of Pseudomonas aeruginosa containing an effective amount of the recovered lysine polypeptide and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. Said isolated lysine polypeptide comprises an amino acid sequence selected from a group consisting of SEQ ID NO: 6 – SEQ ID NO: 10, or fragment of said sequence, having lytic activity, and is intended to inhibit P. aeruginosa growth. Disclosed composition is used in methods suitable for preventive and therapeutic facilitation and treatment of infections caused by gram-negative bacteria, including P. aeruginosa. Also disclosed are a polynucleotide encoding said polypeptide, a recombinant expression vector containing said polynucleotide, a host cell containing said vector.

EFFECT: said lysine polypeptide is used in a method for increasing the effectiveness of antibiotics suitable for treating a bacterial infection caused by gram-negative bacteria.
