SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a curable composition which is suitable for use as a dental material, and to a corresponding dental material. Disclosed curable composition contains a polymerizable monomer component (A), spherical filler (B) having average particle size in range from 260 nm to 1000 nm, and polymerisation initiator (C). At that, 90 % or more of separate particles that make spherical filler (B) are within ±5 % of average particle size. Polymerizable monomer component (A) having refraction index (25 °C) in range of 1.38 to 1.55 and spherical filler (B), which is spherical composite oxide particles based on silicon dioxide and titanium oxide and having refraction index (25 °C) of particles in range of 1.45 to 1.58, are respectively selected so that they satisfy condition (X1) represented by (1): nP<nF (1), where nP is refraction index at 25 °C of polymer obtained by polymerisation of polymerizable monomer component (A), and nF is refraction index at 25 °C of spherical filler (B). Difference between the refractive index of the spherical filler (B) nF (25 °C) and the refraction index of the polymer from the polymerizable monomer component (A) nP (25 °C) is 0.001 or more. At that, when performing measurement for hardened composition in condition of formed hardened article having thickness of 1 mm, using differential colorimeter, said cured article emits colored light having brightness (V) of less than 5 and chromaticity (C) of 0.05 or more in colorimetric values according to Munsell Color System on a black background, and having brightness (V) 6 or more and chromaticity (C) less than 2 in colorimetric values according to Munsell Color System on a white background. Also disclosed is a dental filling material consisting of said curable composition.

EFFECT: filling material provides excellent comfort and excellent aesthetic appearance due to that the composition has a well-adjusted color tone of appearance without using a dye or pigment and shows low decolouration or color change.
