FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to vibrodamping ferrite stainless steel. Steel has a chemical composition containing the following, wt %: from 0.001 to 0.03 C, from 0.1 to 1.0 Si, from 0.1 to 2.0 Mn, from 0.01 to 0.6 Ni, from 10.5 to 24.0 Cr, from 0.001 up to 0.03 N, from 0 to 0.8 Nb, from 0 to 0.5 Ti, from 0 to 2.0 Cu, from 0 to 2.5 Mo, from 0 to 1.0 V, from 0 to 0.3 Al, from 0 to 0.3 Zr, from 0 to 0.6 Co, from 0 to 0.1 REE (rare-earth element), from 0 to 0.1 Ca, balance—Fe and unavoidable impurities. Steel has structure containing single phase of ferrite as matrix and ferritic crystalline grains with average diameter from 0.3 to 3.0 mm, and residual magnetic induction is 45 mT or less.

EFFECT: steel has high ability for vibration damping.
