FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a furnace with a circulating layer of molten metal for processing or melting metals and metal-containing wastes. Furnace includes a reservoir with external and internal walls forming a closed channel. Reservoir is intended for filling with molten metal, which will continuously circulate in closed channel. Closed channel includes at least one heating zone, having heating means for energy transfer to molten metal for its overheating, at least one material loading zone for melting or processing, which is captured by superheated molten metal on surface, melting/processing zone, intended to receive superheated molten metal and material trapped on its surface, wherein superheated molten metal transfers its excess energy to material with provision of its melting/processing. Furnace has central cavity limited by inner wall. Furnace has drive in said cavity, which includes rotor with at least one magnet. Rotor is connected to the motor and rotates after the engine is switched on creating a magnetic field capable of causing continuous and cyclic circulation of molten metal. Disclosed is a method of processing and melting metals and metal-containing wastes in a furnace with circulating molten metal.
EFFECT: possibility to operate discretionally, purposefully to modify chemical composition and to continuously remove slag and to load into them any dry metal-containing wastes with provision of optimum characteristics of power consumption.
