FIELD: nuclear equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nuclear technology and radiochemistry and is intended for production and extraction of radioactive isotopes for medical purposes. Method of producing actinium-225 involves irradiating metal thorium target in accelerator in metal shell with charged particles flow, selective dissolution of target shell, dissolving thorium, removing thorium from solution by liquid-liquid extraction and multi-step extraction chromatography extraction of Ac-255 with high radiochemical purity. After irradiating target, shell part parts from niobium metal target are selectively dissolved in mixture from 1.4 mol/l hydrofluoric and 16 mol/l nitrogen to 29 mol/l hydrofluoric and 0.05 mol/l nitrogen at temperature from 20 to 120 °C, and then dissolving metallic thorium in a mixture containing nitric acid with concentration of 5–10 mol/l and hydrofluoric acid with concentration of 5·10-3–10-2 mol/l at temperature of 50–100 °C. To extract actinium from the obtained solution first extraction of thorium with di-2-ethylhexylphosphoric acid. Then the aqueous phase containing actinium in 3–5 mol/l of nitric acid is sequentially passed through three extraction-chromatographic columns.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain high output and high radionuclide purity of actinium-225.
