FIELD: vessels and other watercrafts.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to icebreaking works. Underwater vessel 2 is started to move under ice 1 at safe depth at resonant speed, exciting flexural-gravity waves 3, wherein, during vessel 2, rigid, watertight horizontal plates 4 extend out of its body to reduce water depth under ice. Plates 4 are extended and pushed periodically with frequency of resonance flexural-gravity waves, at that in extended position they are for a period of time equal to half of their period.
EFFECT: invention is aimed at improvement of efficiency of ice destruction.
