SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a hyaluronic acid ester, in which at least a portion of the hydroxyl groups present on the N-acetylglucosamine residue is esterified with crocetin or bixin, compositions based thereon, a method of producing said ester and use thereof for protecting eyes from blue light. Disclosed method involves production of tetrabutylammonium salt of hyaluronic acid by salt formation of ion-exchange resin with aqueous solution of tetrabutylammonium hydroxide followed by resin washing with water and passing aqueous solution of sodium hyaluronate through it, collecting and freezing the eluate, obtained salt is then reacted with a corresponding apocarotenoid while heating, carboxylic functionality of which is activated by reaction at room temperature with carbonyldiimidazole in dimethylformamide, wherein the mixture is left while stirring, then the product is precipitated by addition of sodium chloride and ethanol.

EFFECT: disclosed are new ethers of hyaluronic acid and compositions based thereon, effective for protecting eyes from blue light, as well as an efficient method of producing said ethers.
