SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in exhaust systems of internal combustion engines. System for detecting solid particles comprises a set of hollow discs (260) increasing in size in direction along vertical axis (299), electrodes (220), (222) and tube (250) with inlet opening (210). First electrode (220) is installed on surfaces of each second disc (260) from a set of discs. Second electrode (222) is installed on the surfaces of each of remaining disks (260) from the set of disks. Inlet hole (210) of tube (250) faces in downstream direction relative to flow direction of exhaust gases from engine. Invention discloses a system for detecting solid particles and a method of detecting solid particles.
EFFECT: technical result consists in prevention of ingress of coarse particles into tube and in improvement of solid particles sensor functioning.
