FIELD: chemical or physical processes.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to an extraction method for removing metal salts from an organic hydroformylation reaction fluid ("HRF") before returning HRF to reaction zone of hydroformylation process, wherein HRF includes an organophosphorus ligand and a metal-organophosphorus ligand complex, where the extraction method involves a step of contacting HRF with an aqueous buffer solution in the hydroformylation process buffer extraction zone, and the reaction zone is located upstream of the buffer extraction zone. Method comprises a step of contacting HRF, outside buffer extraction zone, with water ("added water") added in addition to water, present in aqueous buffer solution, wherein amount of added water is from 0.1 to 5 % of weight of HRF.
EFFECT: proposed method allows to stabilize organophosphorus ligand against hydrolytic dehydration, and complex metal-organophosphorus ligand—against degradation and deactivation.
