FIELD: catalyst compositions for hydroformylation processes.

SUBSTANCE: catalyst composition for the hydroformylation process comprises: (a) a transition metal which is rhodium; (b) a monophosphine; and (c) a tetraphosphine having the following structure:where each P is a phosphorus atom and each R1 -R46 is independently hydrogen, a C1-C8 alkyl group, an aryl group, an alkaryl group, an alkoxy group, a haloalkyl group, a haloaryl group, or a halogen, and wherein the catalyst composition comprises at least 40 moles of monophosphine per mole of transition metal. The invention also relates to a hydroformylation process.

EFFECT: increased regioselectivity N:I> =13 by adding a tetradentate phosphine ligand as part of the catalyst composition.
