SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a method, a device for manufacturing a three-dimensional object and a device control unit. Method of making three-dimensional object (2) on holder (7, 8, 9) by layer-by-layer application and selective hardening of powdered structural material (13) comprises the following stages: lowering of holder (7, 8, 9) to predetermined height below working plane (10), application of layer (31) of material (13) in working plane (10) by means of coating application device (14) moving above working plane (10), selective hardening of applied powder layer (31) in places, which correspond to cross section of manufactured object (2), and repeating steps of method before final manufacturing of object (2). At that, inside proper coating area (B) lying in working plane (10) in area, above which device (14) for coating application moves, applied to at least one powder layer on separate sections in an actively controlled manner reduces the amount of applied material (13) or is not applied at all.

EFFECT: technical result of the invention is higher quality of products.
