METHOD FOR AETIOLOGICAL VERIFICATION OF CYTOMEGALOVIRAL PNEUMONIA IN HIV-INFECTED PATIENTS Russian patent published in 2020 - IPC C12Q1/68 C12Q1/6851

Abstract RU 2728589 C1

FIELD: biotechnology.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to biotechnology, particularly to diagnosing infectious diseases. Method involves examining a specific set of biological material of patients, such as blood and respiratory tract samples: BAL, bronchial biopsy material and sputum. Detecting CMV DNA in a blood sample selected from whole blood in a concentration of not more than 1.0 lg copies in 105 leukocytes or blood plasma, as well as BAL sample – in concentration of not more than 400 copies/ml and/or bronchial biopsy material – not more than 400 copies/105 cells and/or sputum – not more than 3,500 copies/ml with 90 % probability excludes the presence of CMV-pneumonia and enables to conclude on the presence of lung involvement of other aetiology.

EFFECT: invention can be used for specification of aetiology of lung pathology in HIV-infected patients, particularly elimination or confirmation of pneumonia of cytomegalovirus nature (cytomegalovirus pneumonia, CMV-pneumonia).
