SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to infectology, and can be used for the prediction of the manifested form of congenital cytomegaloviral infection (CMVI) with CNS involvement in a newborn. If observing any weakness, fatigue, headache, fever and catarrhal manifestations in a pregnant woman of any gestational age, CMV DNA is examined by PCR. If the result is positive for CMV DNA, genotyping of variable CMV genes is performed. If observing gB7 or gH2, the manifested form of congenital CMVI with CNS involvement is predicted in the newborn.

EFFECT: method provides more accurate prediction of the manifested form of congenital CMV with CNS involvement in the newborn by identifying the CMV genotypes gB7 or gH2 in pregnant woman’s blood and saliva.
