METHOD FOR ASSESSING SEVERITY OF MENINGOENCEPHALITIS OF HERPETIC AETIOLOGY IN HIV INFECTION Russian patent published in 2019 - IPC A61B5/00

Abstract RU 2691710 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine and can be used for assessment of severity of meningoencephalitis of herpes virus aetiology in HIV infection. Signs of general cerebral syndrome (B) are determined: headache, vomiting, level of consciousness, seizures. Meningeal signs (C) are determined: neck stiffness, Kernig symptom, Brudzinsky's symptoms. Criteria is assessed in points according to table 1 of description. Obtained data is summed up. Degree of severity of meningoencephalitis of herpetic aetiology is assessed by an integrated index of clinical symptoms (IICS). IICS value < 26 % corresponds to the average severity of the disease. At 26 % ≤ IICS < 71 % - severe degree. IICS ≥71% - extremely severe degree.

EFFECT: method enables the objective assessment of the severity of meningoencephalitis of the herpes virus aetiology in HIV infection by evaluating the complex of the most significant indicators.
