FIELD: optics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to laser gyroscopes and a method of evaluating quality of optical mirrors of a circular laser gyroscope. Method includes capturing image of surface of mirror with video camera and digital processing of image of surface. Digital processing includes transfer of the obtained image into a halftone, in which defects on the surface are displayed in red, and further conversion of the image into a binary image, in which only the defective pixels and the background remain on the image, searching for a brightness feature and determining location on the surface of defective pixels, calculating integral scattering on the found pixels of defects. Method also includes conducting several consecutive turns of mirror relative to vertical axis to detect maximum possible number of defects on surface of mirror, calculation of the value of integral scattering at each rotation to determine the position with minimum dispersion, which will ensure the most effective use of the mirror in the laser gyroscope resonator.

EFFECT: technical result consists in improvement of efficiency of analysis of surfaces of mirrors.
