FIELD: transportation; data processing.

SUBSTANCE: disclosed invention relates to means of guiding vehicles along a given route. Route guidance method comprises the following steps: if on a given route a road for movement in the current position of the vehicle has a first plurality of lanes, and the next road following the nearest branch point from the current position has a second plurality of lanes, finding a branch-merge point to which the lanes different from the lane to reach the destination from the second plurality of lanes disappear; if the initial jamming point is further downstream from the junction-fusion point, in which the bands other than the lane to the destination point disappear, and the jamming end point is closer in the direction of travel from the nearest branch point, directing the vehicle on the lane to reach the destination as the target until reaching the end point; and if the starting point is closer to the branching/merging point in the direction of movement, wherein the bands different from the lane to the destination point disappear, vehicle is directed to the lane other than the speed strips from the second plurality of strips as a target until reaching the end point. Said method is realised using the corresponding device.

EFFECT: invention is aimed at provision of vehicle movement along the route having less probability of traffic interferences caused by congestion.
