FIELD: medical equipment.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to surgical stapling tools. Tensile strengthening assembly for reinforcing mechanical tissue bonding with surgical staples placed from the surgical stapling instrument, comprises a reinforcing member and a biocompatible adhesive layer. Reinforcing member is formed by a flat web having a first side and a second side opposite the first side. Flat web is made with possibility of stretching along stretching axis. Flat web contains extensible fibers and inextensible fibers. Stretchable fibers are arranged in the form of a repeating pattern. Tensile fibers are oriented along corresponding trajectories, each of which is parallel to extension axis. Non-stretchable fibers are arranged in the form of a repeating pattern and are engaged with stretchable fibers. Adhesive layer is applied on first side of flat web and is configured to detachably attach the flat web layer to the end effector of the surgical stapling instrument. In a second embodiment, an expandable reinforcing assembly for reinforcing mechanical tissue bonding with surgical staples, placed from surgical stapling instrument, contains reinforcing element and biocompatible layer of adhesive. Reinforcing member is formed by a flat web having a first side and a second side opposite the first side. Flat web is made with possibility of stretching along stretching axis. Flat fabric comprises pre-curved inextensible fibers and inextensible fibers. Method of using a surgical stapling instrument with a reinforcing assembly, wherein the surgical suturing instrument comprises an end effector, having a staple cartridge and a stop, wherein the reinforcing assembly comprises a reinforcing member formed by the flat web and an adhesive layer, wherein the flat web comprises extensible fibers and inextensible fibers, wherein each of the extensible fibers and the inextensible fibers is arranged in the form of a repeating pattern, and the inextensible fibers are configured to interact with the extensible fibers, that the reinforcing assembly can be stretched along the extension axis, wherein the method includes steps of attaching the reinforcing assembly to the support or the staple cartridge; the tissue is engaged between the stopper and the end effector clips bracket; placing brackets from staple cartridge through reinforcing assembly and fabric; and releasing the end effector such that the reinforcing assembly remains attached to the tissue by the staples, wherein the reinforcing assembly is configured to be adapted to stretch the tissue.
EFFECT: inventions allow mechanical connection of tissue in case of stretching or tightening after stapling.
