SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to medicine, namely to maxillofacial surgery, and discloses a temporary implant for patients with infected defects in the maxillofacial region, as well as a method of surgical treatment of patients. Implant represents a cryogel of polyvinyl alcohol which contains an antimicrobial agent in concentration from 1 to 120 mg/ml. Cryogel with a modulus of elasticity of 2 to 50 kPa is used to make the implant. Method of surgical treatment of infected defects using the above implant is characterized by facilitating introduction of the antimicrobial agent into the wound and removal of toxins by adsorption thereof. Implant is not subject to biodestruction in the patient's body.

EFFECT: group of inventions provides reducing the risk of postoperative pyoinflammatory phenomena, removal of inflammation in an infected wound, prevention of inflammatory processes in surrounding tissues, creation of a temporary support for soft tissues in place of the resected fragment and can be used for treating the patients with tissue damage in the maxillofacial region, in particular with infected defects in such tissues.
