FIELD: aerospace engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to cryogenic-fuel tanks of rocket and space equipment and, first of all, to hydrogen tanks. According to the proposed method, the tank is tested in a cryostat, at the same time before the tests the tank volume is connected to the internal volume of the cryostat, after which the air is replaced with nitrogen. Cooling tank and inner vessel of cryostat from 300 K to 90÷85 K are carried out with liquid nitrogen, then replacing nitrogen with hydrogen and cooling with hydrogen liquid tank and inner vessel of cryostat from 90÷85 K to 20÷22 K. After that, the tank is filled with liquid hydrogen and the tank volume is disconnected from the internal volume of the cryostat, and then pressure in the tank is increased to the design value and in case of tank integrity liquid hydrogen is removed from the tank. Thereafter, the volume of the tank is reconnected with the inner volume of the cryostat and the cryostat tank and internal vessel are heated from 20÷22 K to 70÷80 K with gaseous hydrogen, and then to 300 K – with gaseous nitrogen. After that nitrogen is changed to air, and at destruction of tank structure in process of increasing pressure of liquid hydrogen volume of tank is connected to internal volume of cryostat and liquid hydrogen is removed from both volumes, but first of all from volume with higher weight of liquid hydrogen, and then tank and inner vessel of cryostat are heated from 20÷22 K to 70÷80 K with gaseous hydrogen, and then to 280÷290 K – with nitrogen. After that nitrogen is replaced with air.
EFFECT: simplified cryogenic-strength test of hydrogen tank, increased safety and reliability of tests.
