FIELD: testing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for cryogenic strength testing and can be used for testing hydrogen tanks in a cryostat. Substance: the volumes of the tank (30) and the cryostat (1) are connected. The air is replaced with gaseous hydrogen. The tank and the internal vessel of the cryostat are cooled with liquid hydrogen from 300 K to 20-22 K. The tank is filled with liquid hydrogen. Strength testing is conducted by disconnecting the volumes of the tank and the cryostat, increasing the pressure in the tank to the calculated value and maintaining for a predetermined time. If the strength test therein passed without destruction of the hydrogen tank, the liquid hydrogen is removed from the tank. The tank volume is then connected with the internal volume of the cryostat. The tank and the internal vessel of the cryostat are heated with hydrogen gas from 20-22 K to 280-290 K. The gaseous hydrogen is replaced with air. After filling the tank and cryostat volumes with air, the tank is demounted from the cryostat. If destruction of the tank filled with liquid hydrogen occurs therein in the process of increasing the pressure to the calculated value, the liquid hydrogen is removed from the tank and the cryostat. The tank volume is then connected with the internal volume of the cryostat. The tank and the internal vessel of the cryostat are heated with hydrogen gas from 20-22 K to 280-290 K. The gaseous hydrogen is replaced with air. After filling the volumes of the tank and the cryostat with air, the tank is demounted from the cryostat.
EFFECT: simplification of the testing technology, reduction in the time of the full testing cycle.
