FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a protective screen for an X-ray apparatus. There is an X-ray source; a protective X-ray attenuation shield comprising an elongated cavity for receiving an X-ray source and a sample holding portion; protective shield attenuating neutron radiation; and a shield which attenuates gamma-radiation. In the protective screen for the X-ray installation, the protective neutron damping protector adjoins and substantially surrounds the X-ray attenuation shield, and the protective screen attenuating gamma-radiation adjoins and substantially surrounds the protective shield attenuating neutron radiation. In some embodiments, a pull-out device is provided for loading specimens into an elongated cavity, which consists of adjoining blocks of material, where each corresponding unit has thickness and composition which, in fact, coincides with the thickness and composition of the protective X-ray attenuation screen, the neutron-damaging protective shield, and the gamma-radiation attenuation shield.
EFFECT: high radiation safety when using an X-ray apparatus for gamma-activation analysis.
