FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: X-ray and photoneutron source has an X-ray generator for generating a main X-ray beam and a target which converts radiation into photoneutrons to generate photoneutrons when the target is bombarded with the X-ray beam, where the target has a body having through-passage. A first X-ray beam, which is part of the main beam, can pass through this passage without any reaction with the body while the a second X-ray beam, which is part of the main beam, can enter the body and react with the body, thereby generating photoneutrons.
EFFECT: design of a target which converts radiation into photoneutrons and an X-ray and photoneutron source.
