FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine. Beam forming unit for the neutron capturing therapy comprises a beam input, a target for generating a nuclear reaction with a proton beam passing from the beam input, to produce neutrons which form a neutron beam forming a main axis, a retarder abutting on said target for neutron deceleration, generated by target, to the epithermal neutron energy range, a reflector surrounding said retarder for guiding the deflected neutrons back to the main axis for epithermal neutron concentration, a thermal neutron absorber adjacent to said retarder, to absorb thermal neutrons in order to avoid excessive doses for superficial healthy tissues during therapy, a radiation shield for protection against dissipating neutrons and photons in order to reduce a dose for healthy tissues in non-irradiated regions, a beam output and a replaceable device which generates a beam output. Removable device is detachable from the beam forming unit to vary the irradiation range of the neutron beam. Replaceable device is part of the reflector and part of the radiation shield.
EFFECT: use of this invention will make it possible to increase efficiency of radiation dose distribution.
