SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to paediatrics, cardiology and ultrasonic diagnostics. To predict the risk of atherosclerotic vascular lesions in children, the intima-media complex carotid artery thickness is evaluated by ultrasonic duplex scanning of the neck vessels from the right and from the left. Results of the measurements are compared with the original normative values of the right and left common carotid arteries for children aged 5–17 years with an interval of one year. If the thickness of the intima-media complex of the child is higher than the corresponding normative values, a high risk of atherosclerotic vascular lesions is predicted; if the intima-media complex thickness deviates from standard values, a low risk of atherosclerotic vascular lesions is diagnosed.

EFFECT: method enables high-accuracy prediction of a risk of developing atherosclerotic vascular lesions in children, due to standard indices obtained by original mathematical calculation.
