FIELD: calculating; counting.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to computer engineering. Method of predicting coding of motion vectors comprises the following stages: determining motion vector of target fragment in frame image of encoding target; determining a first version of a motion vector predictor from a motion vector or motion vectors of one or more fragments belonging to a neighbouring region on the left for the target fragment; determining a second version of the motion vector predictor from the motion vector or motion vectors of one or more fragments belonging to the neighbouring region from the top for the target fragment; selecting an optimum motion vector predictor and outputting the motion vector predictor indicator information to indicate the selected optimum motion vector predictor, wherein the optimum motion vector predictor is selected based on the comparison between one or more versions of the motion vector predictors, including the first version of the motion vector predictor and the second version of the motion vector predictor, and the motion vector of the target fragment; and encoding the motion vector predictor indicator information.
EFFECT: technical result is reduction of computational complexity required for determination of motion vector predictors.
