FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to cable production and can be used for production of plastically crimped ropes in general, as well as cable elements, that are strands, metal core. Method of producing plastically crimped elements of a rope or a rope as a whole includes rope of elements or a rope and further radial reduction in a double mill stand system of "triangle-circle" gauges, at that, the "triangle" calibre provides a triangular shape of the element, wherein the diameter of the circumference of the triangle is equal to the diameter of the finished element, and the "circle" gauge is also equal to the finished element diameter with account of the cross-section area reduction ratio by 13–20 %, at that the main reduction is performed with the "triangle" calibre with subsequent formation of the round cross-section with the "circle" calibre.
EFFECT: disclosed method provides single radial reduction of rope or cable elements as a whole with maximum degree of squeezing of cross-section area by 13–20 %, which has several advantages over multiple reduction: obtaining even smooth surface without metal extrusion; providing uniform deformation of wires in surface layer; reduced contact and pull-out stresses; preservation of mechanical properties of wires; reduced loss of strength of wire from roll.
