FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely endocrinology, and aims at predicting the clinical effectiveness of hypothyroidism. Before prescribing levothyroxine sodium in patients with hypothyroidism, in addition to determining TSH and free T4, presence or absence of polymorphism Val174Ala in human SLCO1B1 gene is evaluated. If observing polymorphism in the form of replacement of valine by alanine in position 174 of amino acid sequence of protein SLCO1B1, leading to increased plasma concentration of thyroxine-sulphate by 24 %, effectiveness of treatment with levothyroxine of sodium will be higher, and in absence of polymorphism of gene SLCO1B1 Val174Ala efficiency of treatment will be lower.
EFFECT: using the invention enables predicting the effectiveness of hormone replacement therapy.
