FIELD: thermally sprayed coatings.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to thermally sputtered coatings and method of their application on non-smooth surfaces. Coating is applied on a substrate having a nonsmooth outer surface. For this purpose, initial material is supplied in form of powder or wire into thermal spraying device with formation of at least part of molten powder particles. Powder particles are applied on first area of outer surface for quenching particles to form first area with thermally sprayed coating and with preservation of second area of outer surface without fused powder particles with formation of second area without coating.
EFFECT: result is a coating on nonsmooth surfaces without significant deterioration of underlying texture or profile of nonsmooth surfaces.
