FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for rapid diagnosis of Escherichia coli and coliform bacteria (CB) in the oral cavity. Method involves sampling biological material from the patient's mouth to cultivate E. coli and CB. Biological material is placed in selective nutrient medium CODA, incubated for 24 hours at temperature 37 °C, then, the presence of E. coli and CB in the nutrient medium is visually recorded by the color change of the nutrient medium and its turbidity in the test tube. If observing initial green color and transparent medium, absence of E. coli and CB is diagnosed, yellow color with formation of gas bubbles and medium turbidity indicate presence of E. coli and CB in sample.
EFFECT: disclosed method enables faster detection of Escherichia coli and CB and reduces diagnostic costs, and also enables to examine any biological material from the oral cavity (oral and gingival fluid, dental plaque, an imprint from the oral mucosa, blood).
