FIELD: rail vehicles.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to upper railway track superstructure, in particular, to unstressed rail joints. Rail joint includes two connected rails. In the end part of the rail foot and web there is a longitudinal axial vertical cut forming a vertical contact surface at the junction point. In the respective part of the head of each rail, the length of the longitudinal cut of the web, a vertical cut is made at an angle to the longitudinal axis of the rail. Cut forms external and internal support horizontal surface. Support surface is symmetrical for both rails. Outer surface of first rail is thrust for inner surface of second rail. Outer surface of second rail is support for inner surface of first rail. In the web of one rail holes are made, and pins are installed on the web of the second rail.

EFFECT: higher butt joint strength.
