FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing blanks from brass and can be used for making parts in contact, in particular, with drinking water. Method of producing a blank from brass which does not contain lead or has low content of lead includes mechanical treatment by removing chips from an article made from brass, not containing lead or with low content of lead, wherein said chips is a thin strip flattened or confused, preparation of a predetermined amount of powdered graphite having a given particle size, separation of brass particles having grain size smaller than a predetermined size, mixing brass particles with powdered graphite, heating mixture and performing extrusion, wherein mechanical processing with removal of chips is carried out at a remote plant, a predetermined amount of chips is transported to a main enterprise, and stages of separation of brass particles and extrusion of heated mixture are carried out on said main enterprise.
EFFECT: invention is aimed at development of ecologically clean method of brass production, having mechanical properties same as brass containing lead.
