FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to high-voltage solid-state commutators used in accelerator and laser equipment, radar, electrical equipment for controlled thermonuclear synthesis, electric discharge, electromagnetic and beam technologies. Technical result is achieved by design of a high-voltage switch, consisting of electrically and mechanically interconnected switching unit, made in form of in-series connected reversibly-connected dinistors with integrated control, shunted by resistors and damping chains, and built-in commutator start-up generator, which includes a thyristor control unit and pulse transformers, as a result of which the high-voltage RCDC unit is connected by the low-power control pulse by switching the first powerful forward current pulse, similarly to the thyristor, and subsequent alternate-sign pulses of power current are commutated by reverse-connected reverse conductivity dinistor, providing efficient operation of switch in switching modes of powerful weakly-damped bipolar current pulses.
EFFECT: design of a high-voltage high-current semiconductor switch controlled by a low-power current pulse similar to that of a conventional thyristor intended for operation in switching modes of high-power bipolar current pulses in the submillisecond and microsecond ranges.
