FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of wire from nonferrous metals and can be used, in particular, for production of electrotechnical products. Method of converting rolled wire from non-ferrous metals and their alloys, such as aluminum, copper and their alloys, into wire with high elongation and in annealed condition without use of annealing device includes reduction of diameter for transition from wire rod to wire by means of plastic deformation process, wherein at least a portion of mechanical energy supplied to the treated metal to reduce its diameter is converted into thermal energy for metal annealing, and the temperature of metal subjected to plastic deformation is controlled so as to have wire at the end of plastic deformation process at temperature higher than or equal to recrystallization temperature.
EFFECT: invention is aimed at obtaining a wire with characteristics similar to those of a wire subjected to annealing, which allows avoiding heat treatment by annealing, which is necessary in usual methods of production, due to which significant saving of production costs is achieved.
