FIELD: medical equipment.

SUBSTANCE: ultrasonic imaging system comprises a movable base and a control panel supported by the movable base, wherein the control panel includes a plurality of manual controls provided on the support surface, wherein the support surface is mainly horizontal or slightly inclined downward relative to the ground, and a touch-sensitive control panel, movably connected to the support surface, the touch-sensitive control panel comprising a first touch-sensitive display on a first side of the touch-sensitive control panel configured to provide a touch-sensitive user interface, wherein the touch control panel is movable between a plurality of positions, in each of which the first touch-sensitive display is at a different angle relative to the support surface. At that, touch-sensitive control panel comprises second touch-sensitive display on second side of touch-sensitive control panel, opposite to first side, wherein sensor control panel is movable between first position, in which the first and second sensor displays are at an angle to the support surface such that one or more of the plurality of manual controls are available to the user and a second position, in which first and second sensor displays are substantially parallel to support surface such that one or more of the plurality of manual controls below the first touchscreen display are inaccessible to the user and the second touchscreen display is activated, and wherein the touch-sensitive display is configured to automatically change the user interface provided on the touch-sensitive displays in response to movement of the touch-sensitive displays in any of a plurality of positions. Method of operating an ultrasonic imaging system comprising a touch-sensitive control panel comprising a first touch-sensitive display on a first side of a touch-sensitive control panel, and a second touch-sensitive display on the second side of the touch-sensitive control panel opposite the first side, wherein the method comprises steps of: displaying a first standard user interface on a first sensor display of an ultrasound imaging system, when the first and second touch-sensitive displays are in a first position relative to the hand-held control panel of the ultrasonic imaging system, wherein the control panel comprises a plurality of manual controls, provided on the support surface of the hand control panel, wherein the support surface is mainly horizontal or slightly inclined downward relative to the ground, wherein the first standard user interface includes one or more touch sensitive areas on the first touchscreen associated with the first mode of operation, wherein in the first position, the first and second touch-sensitive displays are at an angle to the support surface of the hand-held control panel such that one or more of the plurality of manual controls are available to the user; moving the first and second touch-sensitive displays to a second position relative to the hand-held control panel, in which the first and second touch-sensitive displays are substantially parallel to the support surface such that one or more of the plurality of manual controls below the first touchscreen display are inaccessible to the user and the second touchscreen display is activated, and automatically displaying a second standard user interface on a second touchscreen display in response to movement of touch-sensitive displays to a second position, wherein the second standard user interface is associated with a second mode of operation, different from the first operating mode.
