FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method for qualitative and quantitative determination of phthalic acid esters (phthalates) in polymer materials. Method of determining phthalates in a polymer material by gas chromatography with mass spectrometric detection involves grinding the analysed polymer material; extraction of phthalates from the polymer material using acetonitrile as an extractant at temperature of 60 to 80 °C for a period of time of 90 to 150 minutes; separating extract containing phthalates from polymer material; determination of content of phthalates by gas chromatography using a chromatographic column with a deposited phase consisting of 35 %-phenyl-65 %-dimethylpolysiloxane.
EFFECT: high detection limit of phthalates (about 0_1 ppm) in polymer samples.
