FIELD: welding.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in automatic argon-arc welding by nonconsumable electrode to stabilize welding speed and arc voltage. To control the penetration depth, a mathematical model of a point source of heat of a plate moving on the surface is used. Widths and depths of penetration of the reference seam are used to calculate two coefficients of the mathematical model: the ratio of the specific effective power to the volumetric heat capacity and the thermal diffusivity. Obtained values are used to determine the position of the temperature measurement point on the surface of the plate. Point of measurement shall ensure stability of adjustment of penetration depth. In the process of regulation, the difference between the calculated and measured point temperatures is determined. Initial temperature of the plates to be welded is varied and the welding current required for stabilization of penetration depth is calculated.
EFFECT: method provides elimination of uncontrolled disturbances, increases accuracy of control, which increases stability of quality of welded joints.
