SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to automatically control the depth of penetration during welding of critical structures. Pre-receive the reference surface temperature distribution along a line perpendicular to the junction passing through the temperature measurement point. Measure the temperature at the second point of this line, located relative to the junction symmetrically to the first point. Difference between the measured temperature points and the reference temperature distribution determine the deviation of the welding arc from the joint and the deviation of temperatures at the measurement points from the reference temperature value caused by the deviation of the arc from the joint. They are used to calculate the controlled welding parameter using a mathematical expression that includes the temperature of the measurement points and the temperature change at the measurement points from the action of the arc deviation from the joint.
EFFECT: method allows to avoid violation of the regulatory process due to deviation of the arc from the joint.
