FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of welding production. Method comprises maintaining penetration depth at a given constant level by controlling welding parameter, wherein actual values of controlled parameter are measured during welding. Besides, at nominal parameters of welding, width of welded seam is additionally measured, metal melting point and reference initial temperature of welded parts are set. As the controlled parameter, welding current is used, the values of which are corrected in accordance with the values calculated from the given mathematical relationship, including said temperatures, coordinates of the point with maximum penetration depth, rate of welding, nominal penetration depth, thickness of plates to be welded, as well as coefficient of thermal conductivity and coefficient of proportionality, which are calculated from values of width and depth of penetration of reference seam.

EFFECT: use of the invention improves accuracy of welding current control and accordingly quality of welded joints.
