FIELD: measurement technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for determination of chemical composition of welded seam during automatic welding by consumable electrode with flux taking into account fusion of main weld metal of butt joint of plates. Melting point of welded metal and its initial temperature are set. Welding speed is measured to calculate cross-section area of main metal penetration by mathematical formula of heat propagation in article during welding. Weld width and penetration depth are measured. Measured dimensions are used to calculate values of corresponding coefficients in used mathematical formula for action of point moving heat source on plate surface. Further, the obtained coefficients are used to calculate the cross-section area of the parent metal penetration. In compliance with one version, penetration area is defined as product of mean depth by maximum width of parent metal penetration. According to another version, it is represented by the product of maximum depth at average width of weld penetration. Method enables to accumulate information on the area of penetration of the base metal based on welding samples and production seams and to obtain dependence of this area on modes and other welding parameters.
EFFECT: this opens the possibility of creating an automated system for calculating the chemical composition of the seam during submerged arc welding with allowance for the polarity of the arc.
