FIELD: methods and devices for metal processing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of welding production. Method comprises maintaining penetration depth at a given constant level by controlling a welding parameter selected from welding current and welding speed, at that, actual values of the controlled parameter during welding are measured, which are corrected in accordance with their values calculated according to a given mathematical relationship, characterized by that at nominal welding parameters, the effective power of the welding arc is measured, ratio of effective power to welding current is calculated, metal melting point and rated initial temperature and thickness of welded parts are set, and welding parameter is used as controlled parameter, calculation of which is performed by mathematical relationship.
EFFECT: technical result: developed method of controlling penetration depth during arc automatic welding increases accuracy of welding current and therefore quality of welded joints.
