FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: use in the field of electric engineering for determination of inoperative generator set (GS) in ship electric power stations. According to the method, in parallel operation of several GS, loading of each of GS is measured, value of non-uniformity of load GS is determined, time interval (
T) from the moment of switching from manual to automatic control mode of the electric power plant to the moment, when difference between loading of parallel operating GS is less than allowable value, determining moment of deviation of GS load irregularity beyond the limits of the setting and moment when loading of one or several GS is reduced, and loading of other GS increases, recording coincidence of these moments outside the time interval 
T and GS, loading of which decreases, is considered inoperative.
EFFECT: high reliability of determining an inoperative GS during its parallel operation with other units.
