FIELD: technical diagnostics.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to determine technical condition of piston internal combustion engine. Solution of the task is achieved by the fact that in the method of diagnosing the piston internal combustion engine, consisting in that based on the results of qualitative and quantitative analysis of deviations of the position of characteristic points on the time signal realization, proportional to the rate of change of pressure from the position of characteristic points on the passport time implementation of the signal proportional to the rate of change of pressure, making a conclusion on possible engine malfunctions, according to the invention, for the analysis the time realization of the signal proportional to the pressure variation rate in the engine working cylinder is used, and the diagnostic parameters used are relative characteristics of the relative location of the characteristic points on the time realization of the signal proportional to the rate of change of pressure in the working cylinder of the engine.

EFFECT: technical problem, solution of which is aimed at invention, is faster operation of diagnosing piston internal combustion engine, reduced number of primary converters and reduced requirements to their accuracy.
