FIELD: image processing means.
SUBSTANCE: multi-value image is converted to a binary image. Symbol region and the non-symbol region on the binary image are determined. Sections with a single symbol are extracted from the area defined as a symbol region. Determining whether each of the sections with a single symbol is a symbol region or a non-symbol region. Method includes extracting from a multi-value image included in a section with a single symbol, for each of the single-symbol areas, which have been defined as a symbol region, a first characteristic colour and a binary image of the section with a single symbol corresponding to the first specific colour is formed. Selecting a second characteristic colour closest to the colour of the target pixel is made by comparing the first characteristic colour with the colour of the target pixel in the section with the single symbol. Formed binary image of the section with a single symbol, which corresponds to the first characteristic colour, is replaced with a binary image from the selected second characteristic colour.
EFFECT: technical result is higher efficiency of processing images.
