ACTUATOR BASED ON ELECTROACTIVE POLYMER Russian patent published in 2020 - IPC H01L41/04

Abstract RU 2737789 C2

FIELD: electrical equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for actuating an actuator device. Essence of the invention consists in that the method of actuating the actuator device includes an actuator based on an electroactive polymer, comprising: a unit of electrodes for receiving a control signal; and electroactive polymer structure to provide actuation in response to said control signal, wherein triggering causes transition of structure of electroactive polymer from state of rest into activated state, and then return to its state of rest as a result of relaxation; wherein the method includes: generating a control signal, comprising: an excitation signal which causes said actuation, wherein the excitation signal has a first polarity; and a reset signal with a second polarity opposite to the first polarity, wherein the reset signal precedes the excitation signal and/or follows it and is intended to reduce or eliminate displacement of the state of rest during successive actuation; and supplying control signal to electrode unit; wherein value of reset signal amplitude is equal to or less than product of level conversion coefficient by value of excitation signal amplitude, wherein the level conversion factor is selected from a group consisting of: 0.5; 0.2; 0.1; 0.05; 0.02 and 0.01.

EFFECT: enabling reproducible operation of the device.
