FIELD: medicine; oncology.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in treating a solid tumor. Method involves administering an effective amount of a composition containing taxane particles to a solid tumor patient. Composition is administered directly into the tumor by injection, wherein the taxane particles contain at least 95 % of paclitaxel or docetaxel or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, wherein taxane particles have a specific surface area (SSA) of 10 m2/g to 50 m2/g, wherein taxane particles have an average bulk density of 0.050±0.0025 g/cm3 to 0.12±0.006 g/cm3 and wherein the taxane particles comprise agglomerated particles and agglomerated particles taxane.
EFFECT: use of the invention enables suppressing tumor growth by accumulating particles in a tumor in a significant amount for a long period of time with negligible release into undesirable areas, increasing dissolution rate of particles and faster release of chemotherapeutic agent therefrom.
