FIELD: furnaces and ovens.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to submerged arc furnace for silicon production. Furnace comprises melting pot with tap hole, discharge chute with pouring ladle, hood with walls, for taphole and discharge chute, suction gas ducts and pipes connecting them with umbrella, wherein at least two suction gas ducts are located asymmetrically on both sides of the hood, one of which is located close to the tap for removal by ventilation of the gas leaving the melting pot, and the other one - above the pouring ladle, into which liquid silicon flows, for entrapping of flue gas coming off in the refining process, at that, the hood comprises suction system rotating together with it and melting crucible, pipes connecting the hood with suction gas ducts, have vertical orientation immediately after points of their connection on both sides of umbrella, suction gas ducts have inspection holes, and walls of umbrella are inclined. Disclosed is a method of producing silicon in submerged arc furnace.
EFFECT: reduced amount of flue gas, not falling into ventilation system and coming out into atmosphere of working space, and improved working conditions of personnel serving equipment for tap hole opening, due to air quality improvement and reduction of dust content in melt release zone.
