METHOD OF HIGH-POWER BRACHYTHERAPY OF LOCALLY ADVANCED PANCREATIC CANCER Russian patent published in 2020 - IPC A61N5/10 A61P35/00

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to a method for high-power brachytherapy of locally advanced pancreatic cancer, consisting in the fact that under helical computer navigation with preliminary intravenous introduction of iodine-containing contrast in amount of 50-100 ml or under US-navigation into the source is injected through every 5-8 mm introducers for high-power brachytherapy with diameter 6 Fr, control is performed by spiral computed tomography with thickness of cuts of 5 mm, after which the introducers are fixed to the patient's skin, delineation of the target and planning of the irradiation field taking into account the size, localization of the tumor center and risk organs, wherein the introducer position is considered to be a coordinate system of x, y, z and encoded using a BrachyVision software as a reference point system, high-power brachytherapy with a radiation source of ¹⁹²Ir of activity of 10 Ci, and in one session on a tumor center dose of 5 Gy is administered, total up to 5 sessions with frequency of 1 time in 24 hours to total basic dose of 20 Gy, after which the introducers are removed, puncture canals are sealed with haemostatic adhesive, the control is performed 6 weeks later and every 3 months for following 3 years.

EFFECT: proposed method allows bringing high focal dose with maximum tumor damage per one session and preserving intact tissues.
